The worst thing you can do when using your chainsaw - putting the bar and chain in the dirt!!! The small teeth on the chain cut through wood, and that dirt dulls it quick. Just remember - you stop cutting when they dull. You want to have “chips” flying off, not “dust”. Once you combine the bar and chain oil that is supposed to be there with that nasty dirt, the next cut you make into the wood will sand the sharp edge of the chain FAST!
